A person has been arrested in relation to a series of break and enters in Surrey and Burnaby, Mounties say.
A total of 12 charges have been laid against 27-year-old Gia Duong, including breaking and entering, robbery, and trafficking stolen goods.
On Nov. 2, Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a break and enter at a residence on 144A Street, near Green Timbers Park. Police say the person reported that cash and jewelry had been taken.
Surrey RCMP Property Crime Target Team took over the investigation and eventually identified an individual who was involved in a series of break and enters in Surrey and Burnaby.
On Nov. 9, the team arrested Duong as a suspect.
The jewelry stolen on Nov. 2 has since been returned and police are currently seeking the rightful owners of other stolen items.
To identify stolen property, police say they search a database full of transactions logged by pawn shops and second-hand stores to search for serial numbers also identified in police databases.
Police say the database is especially helpful when the owner has a good description, serial number or photo of their stolen item.
Duong is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 22.
