Vancouver police say charges have been laid in connection with the city’s first homicide of 2024.
Police were called to a home in the area of East 33rd Avenue and Knight Street just after 1 a.m. Sunday. When they arrived, officers say a man was found dead.
A 39-year-old was arrested inside the home.
The victim has since been identified as 31-year-old Alexander Lo. The VPD previously said there was no risk to the public.
Dwight William Kematch has been charged with second-degree murder and remains in custody.
A motive has not been determined and few other details have been provided. Police say their investigation is ongoing.
