It’s going to be a busy week at the provincial legislature in Victoria, with both the throne speech and Budget Day on the schedule.
Tomorrow, British Columbians will hear from Lieutenant Governor Janet Austin, who will open the spring session and give the speech from the throne.
The speech will outline why the Legislative Assembly is meeting and what its goals for the upcoming session are.
Typically, the day of the speech is marked with tradition, including the firing of cannons into Victoria’s harbour for a 15 gun salute.
Following the speech, MLAs will sit for six days to debate the government’s goals for the year ahead.
On Thursday, the provincial government will also lay out its upcoming budget.
This is when we will learn what the government plans to prioritize spending money on over the next year.
We will have full coverage both on air and online.
