About Kier

Kier grew up in Abbotsford, where he started to perform in indie rock bands. He got his start in journalism as a music blogger in Vancouver, and then went on to write for Black Press papers and other local magazines. Before CityNews, Kier created and hosted segments for the Joytv/Zoomermedia shows Fraser Focus and JoytvNEWS. In 2023, Kier was the inaugural recipient of the RTDNA Canada Emerging Journalist award for his work covering housing issues and drug policy in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. He has a Bachelor's Degree in journalism and a minor in economics from Kwantlen Polytechnic University.
