About Sidney

Sidney is a Rainy River Metis and Ojibwe Indigenous person with 10 years of experience on air. Born and raised in Vancouver, she started in radio as a weekend reporter on the Sunshine Coast during her high school years, before moving back to the city to attend the BCIT Radio Arts program. In 2019, after some time in community radio, she fell in love with traffic reporting at AM730 -- where she worked for five years. Sweet Sidney Parker joined the 1130 NewsRadio team in April 2025 and now works as both a traffic reporter and a news anchor. Sidney is also a traditional and digital artist. You can find her at local markets in Vancouver, as well as in over 10 stores across Canada. She is also a cat lover, and enjoys watching TV and movies when not out and about on nice days. Through her reporting, Sidney is passionate about uplifting underrepresented voices. She is also currently earning her Bachelor's of Creative Arts.
