Smoky skies appear over Brentwood after vehicle fire at dealership

At least one vehicle in Burnaby’s Brentwood neighbourhood went up in flames early Saturday morning.

At around 4 a.m., firefighters say they happened upon the vehicle fire at the Vancouver Car Centre on Douglas Road on their way back from a medical call.

Crews tell CityNews they used bolt cutters to access the lot containing the fire.

CityNews staff saw two fire trucks on scene and large plumes of smoke rising from the parking lot.

Fire crews cite “good luck” as the reason another half dozen cars weren’t destroyed.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

However, police add the fire has been deemed suspicious and is now being investigated as possible arson.
