CARIBOO (NEWS1130) – 108 Mile Resort, Golf and Conference Centre is the scene of a fire for the second time in a year. Just last year the hotel section of the resort, which was unaffected by this fire, was the scene of arson. This time the resort that labels itself the Cariboo’s best kept secret, has lost much more. The resort, located at 108 Mile House Ranch, boasted a 6 thousand square foot conference centre and an 18 hole championship golf course, much of that is now destroyed.
CFJC reporter Curtis Allen, who was at the scene, says the conference centre, restaurant and golf pro-shop are all destroyed. “The building is completely demolished at this point, in some places it is still smoldering. Fire crews are just in the mop up stage of the fire. Its all gone, the conferences centre the restaurant it is all completely demolished and there is an excavator right now removing all the pieces of wood to one side of the building.”
Constable Manseau, the lead RCMP investigator says they have contained the scene and made sure it is safe for the investigation to start. Fire investigators will not be on scene until Monday morning to determine the cause of the fire and the point of origin.
