Some courier companies concerned over Olympic traffic restrictions

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Offices that rely on daily courier deliveries could be facing a major headache during the Olympics due to traffic restrictions. But there are some courier companies that are finding ways to make sure their clients don’t suffer.

Surinder Bradshaw at Vector Courier Services says her clients, like lawyers and architects are very concerned about whether their documents can be picked up and delivered in a timely fashion. “There are some companies that are shutting down point-blank for two or three weeks.  There are a couple of companies that we have heard that are relocating outside of the downtown.”

Bradshaw says her company is looking at beefing up its fleet of bicycle couriers to deal with traffic restrictions. Terry Preist at PDX Courier Service says his company is hiring extra foot and bike couriers as well, and has set up a satellite office outside of the city core to make sure deliveries can get in and out smoothly.
