RCMP warn about scam artist posing as fire extinguisher inspector

By

NORTH VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – North Vancouver RCMP are warning local businesses about a scam involving ‘inspections’ of fire extinguishers.  Police say the man shows up claiming to be an inspector, and will check them out for cash, leaving behind fake certification.

RCMP say the man tells businesses he is from Paul’s Fire Protection, or Metro Fire Service.  Neither are registered with the province.  He’s described as a short, stocky white man in his mid-40s, balding with short, curly, dark brown hair.

Businesses are being asked to call the RCMP non-emergency line at 604-985-1311 if they are victimized.
