VANCOUVER (NEWS113) – Stay away from several varieties of Moonstruck organic cheese.

The BC Centre for Disease Control says three types of Camembert from the Saltspring Island business are potentially contaminated with the bacteria that causes listeriosis — a potentially fatal disease.

It’s the same bacteria that caused several deaths two yeas ago when it got into processed meat.    

Anyone who may have bought the affected cheese shouldn’t eat it; instead throw it out or take it back to the place where it was purchased.

The three Camembert varieties affected include White Moon, Savory Moon, and Ash-Ripened with the following code numbers:

* Code 240110 with best before dates of 03/03/10, 10/03/10, and
  24/03/10
* Code 200110 with best before date 03/03/10
* Code 290110 with best before dates 10/03/10, 17/03/10 and 23/03/10
* Code 050210 with best before dates 17/03/10, 23/03/10 and 02/04/10
* Code 120210 with best before dates 23/03/10 and 02/04/10
* Code 190210 with best before date 02/04/10
