BURNABY (NEWS1130) – For a couple hours this morning, smoke poured out of a popular restaurant on top of Burnaby Mountain. It is now out but the two-alarm fire has seriously damaged Horizons Restaurant.
Kim Seale was above the fire in News1130 Airborne Traffic. She says firefighters did their best to control the blaze.
“What they seem to be doing is hitting these hotspots, the flames that are coming out of the roof, south east corner of the restaurant. They are really laying down a lot of water from one tanker that they have the ladder hooked up to. Every once and a while they are stopping, that way they can gauge if they are getting anywhere with the water flow that they are using or if they want to change spots and every once and a while this thing really flares up again. You can still see big flames and lots of fire crews. There is an ambulance but we believe it is just for the fire fighters in case there is smoke inhalation.”
So far, no injuries have been reported.
