Twitter page exploring relationship between a son and his dad spawns new book and TV pilot

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – It may not have seemed like it at the time, but what your dad told you may actually have been good advice. Justin Halpern, who is in his 20s, ended up bunking with his dad. “I moved back home after my girlfriend and I split up. I started writing down some of the crazier things that he was saying and I put them on Twitter to show my friends and it basically just kind of exploded.”

An example after Justin’s split up? “He came up to me and put his hand on my shoulder and he said ‘Sometimes life leaves a $100 bill on your dresser and you don’t realize until later that’s it because it F’ed you’.”

He says it’s tough when you’re three playing with Lego and your dad tells you what you built is a piece of crap, but you learn to understand what’s going on in life and how to react to it. There’s now a book of “Sh*t My Dad Says” and they’ve filmed a pilot for a show with William Shatner as Justin’s dad who says, “I think it’s going to be an F’ing hit!”
