Hawks take Stanley Cup opener

CHICAGO (NEWS1130) – Tomas Kopecky had the winner as the Chicago Blackhawks edged the Philadelphia Flyers 6-5 to take the opening game of the Stanley Cup Final. Kopecky broke a 5-5 tie just under five minutes into the third period. The teams combined for 10 goals in the first two periods.

Troy Brouwer scored twice, Dave Bolland, Patrick Sharp and Kris Versteeg got the other goals for Chicago. Arron Asham, Blair Betts, Daniel Briere, Scott Hartnell, and Ville Leino replied for Philadelphia.

Game 2 is Monday in Chicago.
