MEAGER CREEK (NEWS1130) – After a forty-million cubic metre landslide came down north of Pemberton, a lot of people’s jobs got a lot tougher, especially as far as the cleanup.
But, one person’s job has really taken up a notch. Pat Saintsbury, a local realtor, says this really does not help sales. “We’ve been going through what I’m calling a perfect storm of real estate. Last year we’ve had fires, and now we have this mudslide.”
On Friday, 1,500 people were evacuated after officials raised concern that a natural dam created by the slide would give in, causing a major flooding in the area. That evacuation order has now been lifted, but there’s still a public safety warning in effect for those near the flood line.
