WHITE ROCK (NEWS1130) – Despite the E. coli scare in White Rock, the mayor says people in the city do not want chlorine treatment. Catherine Ferguson says the water is clean, tastes good, and doesn’t have that chlorine smell, and that’s what people like about it.
“That certainly wouldn’t be what I would want to do and I don’t think it would be a reflection of what the residents in our community would like to do,” she says.
However, when the E. coli problem is solved she says there will be a ‘what happens next’ discussion with Fraser Health and EPCOR, the company that manages the water supply.
White Rock’s water supply comes from wells, while most of the rest of the Lower Mainland gets water from a new state-of-the art water filtration and treatment plant connected to the Capilano and Seymour reservoirs.
It will be Friday at the earliest before a boil-water advisory is rescinded.
