MISSION (NEWS1130) The RCMP say it’s another reminder for parents to be vigilant with their children around balconies and windows.
A 13-month old girl is in hospital with serious head injuries after falling off a third-floor balcony in Mission. The fall occurred just before 6:00 pm Wednesday at a mix apartment/business complex on 1st Avenue and Murray Street.
RCMP Inspector Rob Deboersap says the infants’ parents were home at the time. “We don’t yet know if the child went through the railing or over the railing, an investigation will hopefully give us the answers to that.”
The girl was taken to Mission Memorial Hospital by ambulance, stabilized and airlifted to B.C. Children’s Hospital in Vancouver.
Deboersap says it’s still early, but at this time there is no indication of any foul play – it appears to be a tragic accident. He tells us Victim Services from Mission is helping the parents as they deal with the crisis.
