Most stolen car in Canada: 2000 Honda Civic SiR

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – If your car made this list, you might want to put an anti-theft device on your Christmas wish list. The Insurance Bureau of Canada has released its Top 10 most stolen cars and trucks.
The top two on the list are Honda Civics: 1999 and 2000 models. The next few are Cadillac Escalades and Acuras. Lindsay Olson with the Insurance Bureau tells us the face of car thieves in Canada is changing. “It used to be that cars could be stolen for what used to be known as ‘joy-riding,’ or to be used to perpetrate another crime in the local area.”
She says organized crime is taking over where petty thieves left off. Increasingly, the target is high-end cars and trucks for shipment overseas.
