VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – There’s a new kind of insurance policy aimed at environmentally-conscious homeowners. The idea is to not just fix your home following a claim, but to make it better.
It’s an extra $10,000 worth of coverage.
Jeremy Greene is with Optimum West Insurance and says instead of just replacing damaged items with the equivalent product, this policy gives you room to upgrade. “Flooring or home appliances, light fixtures, bulbs, toilets, heating systems, a higher insulation value or even doors and windows…anything that will improve the environmental footprint.”
It’s called the Optimum Green Home Extension and is now available through most insurance brokers in BC.
