VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Female ski jumpers could compete at 2014 Games in Sochi

They’ve been battling for their chance to compete for years and now competitors in women ski jumping could get their chance to compete at the 2014 Games in Russia. A senior member of the International Olympic Committee wants to see it happen.

Gerhard Heiberg tells the Associated Press he will be recommending the addition of the sport to IOC President Jacques Rogge. Heiberg says the sport has made major strides since the IOC decided against including it at the 2010 games here in Vancouver.

The IOC will make a final decision on the sport’s Olympic future sometime next month.
