Coyotes capitalize on Burrows penalty

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Phoenix scored two power play goals on a five minute power play late in the third period on route to a 3-1 win over the Canucks. Alex Burrows was ejected for boarding Vernon Fiddler of Phoenix.

Radim Vrbata and Shane Doan scored the power play goals 78 seconds apart during the five minute power play. Christian Ehrhoff made it close with just under three minutes left, but the Coyotes scored an empty net goal late in the final period.

Former Canucks back up goalie, Jason LaBarbera stopped 46 pucks in the Phoenix net.

NHL leading scorer Daniel Sedin now has an eight game point streak, as he assisted on Ehrhoff’s goal.

The Canucks still have a nine point bulge on second place Detroit in the Western Conference. The Wings still have two games in hand.  For the NHL overall lead, Vancouver is nine points better than Philadelphia and Washington, but the Flyers have played three fewer games than both the Canucks and Capitals.
