Rally to recall Liberal MLA over HST

MAPLE RIDGE (NEWS1130) – “Done with Dalton.” That’s the name of today’s recall rally against the Liberal MLA for the Maple Ridge-Mission riding.
Organizer Corisa Bell says Marc Dalton has not stood behind his constituency on issues like the Harmonized Sales Tax.
“People are to the point where they don’t even want to vote anymore because they know that whoever they vote for is just going to do whatever they want anyways. So, by us recalling [Marc] Dalton, it’s showing the people that you can hold a government official accountable.”
Dalton says he doesn’t see this as much of a threat. “If it was a lot more serious of a push then that would be even more of a distraction, but it’s more of just what I would call an irritant.”
He adds most people know their voices will be heard on the HST issue, when British Columbians vote during the June referendum.
Dalton also explains that now-former Premier Gordon Campbell took the fall for the tax when he resigned.
