Search on for missing Kelowna-bound helicopter

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – An extensive search is underway for a helicopter that didn’t show up as scheduled in Kelowna Friday night.

Capt. Greg Clarke of the Joint Coordination Rescue Centre in Victoria says search crews will spend another night scouring the area between Hope and Kelowna.

“Search and rescue aircraft… out of the Canadian Forces Base in Comox, we had those out all last night as well as into the day and still continuing at this time,” he tells News1130.

“The military side is equipped with night vision goggles, and we’ll continue tonight as well. Right now we’re doing night and day searches.”

Only the pilot was on board the helicopter, which was on a non-commercial trip.
