KENNEWICK, WA (NEWS1130) – After a scoreless first period Michal Plutnar opened the scoring early in the second and it held up as the game winner as the Vancouver Giants fell 5-0 to the Tri-City Americans.
After Plutnar’s opening goal Adam Hughesman put the Americans up 3-0 with a pair of goals in the second period, his eighth and ninth of the season.
In the third period Tri-City extended their lead with goals from Jordan Messier and Malte Strömwall.
Ty Rimmer stopped all 26 shots he faced in the Americans goal, while on the other side Adam Morrison was beaten four times before he was pulled. Jackson Whistle allowed the fifth Tri-City tally.
The loss gives the Giants a winless weekend as they fell 3-2 to the Seattle Thunderbirds last night. The team will be in Kelowna to play the Rockets on Thursday.
