Emotional testimony at Missing Women Inquiry

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – He’s spent years fighting for people who lost loved ones to serial killer Robert Pickton and today he got his chance to testify at the Missing Women Inquiry.

Ernie Crey says if the Crown followed through with charging Pickton in 1996, his sister Dawn might be alive today. Crey was speaking on what would have been Dawn’s 53rd birthday.

But Dawn and 17 other women vanished from the Downtown Eastside after Pickton was allowed to go free. The VPD says it’s changed for the better since the Pickton case.

Crey is looking for specific examples. “If you’ve made those improvements, why you don’t tell us about them. Don’t hide your light, tell us what those improvements are. Meet with the families and meet with other members of the community and tell us what improvements have been made.”

Ernie Crey’s testimony continues at the inquiry at 10:00 am Thursday.
