Giants don’t stand pat in the third period in Regina

By

REGINA, SK (NEWS1130) – Matt Bellerive and Jordan Martinook scored 36 seconds apart early in the third period to break a 1-1 tie, as Vancouver downed the Regina Pats 4-1 in Western Hockey League play.

After no goals were scored in the first period, Vancouver’s Taylor Makin and Andrew Rieder of the Pats exchanged goals in the middle frame.

North Vancouver’s Bellerive broke the tie four minutes into the third period, followed by Martinook’s insurance goal. The Giants leading scorer Brendan Gallagher wrapped up the goal scoring with an empty net marker to go with the assist he had on the third goal for Vancouver.

Don Hay’s crew are 3-1-1 on their eastern road swing. They will wrap up the six game road trip in Swift Current on Saturday.
