Motorcyclist dead after collision with pickup truck in Maple Ridge

The RCMP says a motorcyclist has died after a collision with a pickup truck in Maple Ridge Saturday evening.

Officers were called to the intersection of Lougheed Highway and 287 Street shortly before 9 p.m. after a report of a crash.

“Officers on scene learned that a black Harley Davidson motorcycle was travelling westbound on Lougheed Highway when it collided with a grey Ford pickup truck,” the Maple Ridge RCMP said.

“The collision resulted in the motorcyclist suffering fatal injuries. Attending Emergency Health Services confirmed the death of the 33-year-old male motorcyclist on scene.”

The driver of the pickup truck was uninjured and stayed at the scene, according to police. However, a passenger in the truck was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

BC Emergency Health Services (BC EHS) tells CityNews that one ambulance responded to the scene at 8:40 p.m.

The investigation is ongoing, police say.
