LANGLEY (NEWS1130) – A Langley man who lost his son at the hands of Mounties two years ago feels the case is far from over.
Al Wright is now anxiously awaiting news from the province’s police complaint commissioner to see if he will reconsider charges against the police officers.
“Well, there is just more evidence that came out in the inquest that points to negligence. I can’t get into the details right now,” says Wright.
“The commission left that window open, saying they would still look at it if there was any evidence after the inquest. In our view, there is enough there that, absolutely, there should be charges against them.”
The commissioner had already absolved the officers after his investigation wrapped up in March.
A coroner’s inquest resulted in seven recommendations being made in connection with police procedures.
Alvin Wright was shot to death in his home shortly after a domestic dispute in August of 2010.
