Abbotsford man facing child porn charges

ABBOTSFORD (NEWS1130) – Police in Abbotsford have arrested a man on child porn charges.
Donald Kenneth Petne, 48, is accused of using chatrooms and social media websites to distribute and publish the material.
“We gathered information, which included some of the exchanges that he was having via the Internet. I guess the shoe dropped for him in that he didn’t realize that many of those communications were actually with a police officer,” explains Constable Ian MacDonald.
He notes Petne first came on their radar in March.
“You can’t just come out and say, ‘You don’t know me and I don’t know, but will you exchange some child porn or are you going to offer to exchange some child pornography with me?’ That’s normally not the way it works,” he tells us.
Investigators have seized a number of computers and other electronic devices. MacDonald doesn’t think any of the victims are from Abbotsford.
