MONTREAL (NEWS1130) – As expected, police have confirmed the head found in a park in Montreal on Sunday is Chinese student Jun Lin’s.

It officially puts an end to the month-long search for Lin’s head, which Montreal police have called a top priority since accused killer Luka Magnotta was arrested in Berlin last month.

Lin’s other body parts were mailed to two schools in Vancouver and two political offices in Ottawa. His torso was found in a suitcase in Montreal.

Several charges including first-degree murder have been laid against Magnotta. He pleaded not guilty in the case last month and will be back in court next year.

Lin’s family has been notified of the development in the case.

A private memorial for Lin was held last month. In a eulogy released by the Concordia University, Lin’s mother said the last 30 days have been the most difficult of the family’s life.

Lin was described as a kind person who enjoyed helping others and a young man who was “disciplined, sincere, open-minded, and mild-tempered.”
