CRTC wants your thoughts for new code for wireless services

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Got a problem with your cellphone company? The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission wants to hear about it!

A push is now on to make you better understand your contract and your rights and to hold companies accountable.

Maybe you have questions about how all those fees are adding up, or why you had to pay for a service you thought was optional; Denis Carmel with the CRTC says “clarity” is the key word.

“There are some provinces that introduced some provincial legislation to deal with those issues… some of the providers, we are concerned about the disparity and the different rules in different provinces,” he tells us.

Carmel says if there is some sort of national code, it could help fix that problem.

You can go online until November 20th and make your thoughts known. A public hearing will begin next year.
