Province recruiting firefighters for the summer

KAMLOOPS (NEWS1130) – If you think you can face the heat and flames, the provincial government wants you to apply for a job fighting forest fires this summer.
The Ministry of Forests says it’s looking for people who are physically fit, motivated and work well as part of a team.
Those interested have until January 24th to apply online, where the job requirements are listed in detail.
New hires will get extensive training and will work from May until about the end of August, and may also be deployed to other parts of Canada or to the US to help other crews fight fires.
Throughout the season, firefighters will also be engaged in various activities that includes fuel management, prescribed burning, community work and public awareness campaigns.
The Wildfire Management Branch employs over 1,100 firefighters and specialized personnel.
