VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Tourism Vancouver says it is going to be the biggest thing to come to Vancouver since the 2010 Winter Games.
The prestigious TED Conference, which showcases innovative ideas and speeches, will be coming here for at least two years starting in 2014.
Amber Sessions of Tourism Vancouver says it’s a really big deal. “It’s the people that are coming. This is the sort of conference that Oprah would have on her calendar every year to go to. It really does bring together the thought leaders in the world.”
Sessions says it’s going to bring attention to the city.
“It’s much more thinking of it like the Olympics for example. It’s the opportunity to get the worldwide exposure, to get the influencers here and to align our brands, the Canada brand and the Vancouver brand with TED.”
The conference has been held in California since it started in 1984.
There’s a chance it could be kept in Vancouver and Whistler until 2020.
