BBB warning about company claiming to be Microsoft

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The Better Business Bureau is warning about a company claiming to work for Microsoft, which has ripped off several people from BC this year.
It starts with a phone call from an overseas computer repair company looking to offer you virus protection.
But what they really want is to gain remote access to your computer and charge you a ton of money for they pleasure of doing so.
The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre reported over $500,000 dollars lost to the scam last year with $63,000 of that coming from BC victims.
People have been told their Windows Operating System is corrupted and about to fail.
38 people, mainly in Prince George have fallen victim to the scam this year.
