SURREY (NEWS1130) – A new charge has been laid against one of the investigators in the Surrey Six murder case.
Now-former RCMP Sergeant Derek Brassington is being accused of theft under $5,000.
“This morning Mr. Brassington’s discharge documents were received and signed by the Commanding Officer. Mr. Brassington voluntarily submitted these documents,” reads a release from the RCMP.
“While we have been clear that the RCMP was seeking his involuntary dismissal, the opportunity to discharge him from the organization this morning was one which eliminated further delays, costs and uncertainty.”
Brassington was one of four investigators in the Surrey Six case charged with fraud, obstruction and breach of trust in 2011.
Six people, including two innocent victims, were killed in a highrise in Surrey back in October, 2007.
Eileen Mohan’s son Chris was one of the innocent victims and finds today’s development disturbing. “They disrespected the death of my son and the way my son was killed.”
“I’m hoping that justice will prevail in his case,” she adds.
