CAMPBELL RIVER (NEWS1130) – One person is dead after a float plane crashed in Bute Inlet.

Bill Yearwood with the Transportation Safety Board says the Beaver aircraft was found near Stuart Island.

“The aircraft is upside down in the water. The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre has personnel on scene trying to determine what persons are on board and how many.”

He says overflying aircraft spotted the plane’s wreckage but there were no witnesses to the crash.

Nobody has reported hearing or seeing the crash.

There is no information yet on the victim’s age, gender or hometown.
