Wet weather benefiting allergy sufferers

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Allergy sufferers may be thankful for the wet weather we’ve been experiencing lately. Without it, more folks would be walking around with itchy eyes and runny noses.

“The pollen counts were fairly high a week or so ago,” says Provincial Medical Health Officer Dr. Perry Kendall. But he adds, “the rain that we’ve had recently tends to wash it out of the air. So, there’s less floating around to irritate people.”

But with sunshine on its way soon, Kendall says symptoms could strike some with a vengeance.

“Most people with allergies, it doesn’t come as a surprise to them. They start sniffing and feeling itchy; most of them will have established some antihistamine regimes that work for them,” he tells us.

He adds if you don’t already have a routine in place, you should check with a pharmacist to see what products might be best for you.
