WEST VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – It’s not something you want to wake up to.
A West Vancouver homeowner is going to have to take their car into the shop for extensive work after a bear targeted it overnight.
Cst. Jeff Palmer says West Vancouver Police were called to the home this morning and found the side mirrors torn off, dents in the doors and roof, doors bent and partly pulled open, and paw and claw marks all over the vehicle.
The owner says there was no food or any type of attractant inside and doesn’t know what caused the bear to try and get into the car.
BC Conservation is warning that even small food wrappers or dampness inside a vehicle can give off enough of a smell to attract a bear.
