Eco-toxicologist called in after Lemon Creek fuel spill

SLOCAN VALLEY (NEWS1130) – An ecotoxicologist from Castlegar has been called in to assess the environmental impact of the a fuel spill in the Slocan Valley over a week ago.
A job fair is also being held to hire people to help clean up Lemon Creek.
Information officer Jonathan Lok tells us specialists from Washington State are working in the area.
“As we begin to shift out of the emergency and assessment phase and more into the on the ground clean-up phase, we can bring in general labourers to help out with the significant man-power that goes into this clean-up effort,” he explains.
“The biggest concentration continues on our shoreline clean-up assessment techniques, in which case specialists are isolating where the product is accumulating and in what quantities,” adds Lok.
He says they want people to send their resumes to the Sandman Hotel is Castlegar, but to help make the application process go faster you can email your resume to resumesbc@qmlp.ca.
He notes they’re also looking for more volunteers.
