A base amount has been set at $400. If your your delay is less than two hours, you get get half of that; if your delay is over six hours, the base amount doubles.

Brad Davies with Virtually There Travel is applauding this win for consumers.

“Air Canada’s really pulled up their socks over the last couple of years. But what it really means is they can’t take delays for granted and they have to be a little bit more cautious with their scheduling and a little bit more proactive in terms of helping out clients.

The US and Europe has had a passengers bill of rights for many years. Davies says today’s ruling means Canada is finally catching up.
