SURREY (NEWS1130) – The Fraser Health Authority is insisting patients are safe at Surrey Memorial Hospital in the wake of another doctor resigning over the hospital’s “Code Blue” procedures.
“The public should rest assured that physicians who are capable of managing Code Blue calls are covering those calls when they’re called upon and will continue to do so,” says Tasleem Juma, who speaks for the Authority.
“Each day, a physician is assigned to provide that coverage. At this time, there is no indication that physicians are not responding. So, patient care is not being compromised.”
The Surrey Now is reporting Dr. Giuseppe Giustino has quit, and is calling for a public inquiry into how emergency room doctors have been tasked with responding to emergency calls in other departments.
