Senate expense scandal could become election issue: expert

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The first charges have been laid in the Senate expense scandal, and they definitely won’t be the last.

Political Scientist Hamish Telford with the University of the Fraser Valley says there are still too many unanswered questions.

“We have not heard the end of the story with respect to Mike Duffy and Pamela Wallin and Nigel Wright and we’ve got the Supreme Court case on Senate reform and how it can be constitutionally accomplished.”

There is also the Auditor General’s audit on Senate expenses — a preliminary report is expected in the coming days and weeks.

“There are going to be a series of stories on the Senate dribbling out all year and, who knows, it might even be an election issue in October of 2015.”
