Hwy 1 closure means no easy route to or from Kamloops

LYTTON (NEWS1130) – An accident involving a tanker truck near Spences Bridge has Highway 1 shut down in both directions between Lytton and Spences Bridge until further notice.
The Coquihalla remains closed between Hope and Merritt due to an avalanche hazard.
This means there is no easy route between Kamloops and the Lower Mainland.
There is a detour in place on Highway 1 in Lytton to Highway 8 to Merritt.
An alternate route is to take Highway 3 in Princeton, where drivers can take Highway 5A to Merritt and then on to Highway 97C. However, 5A is only a minor route that’s windy and sometimes difficult to navigate.
