IHIT handing over Ladner-Beaudry case to RCMP

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has decided to hand over the Wendy Ladner-Beaudry murder investigation to the RCMP on the fifth anniversary of her death.

Her family is hoping the Major Crimes Unit will act as a fresh set of eyes.

Wendy’s brother Peter Ladner finds this development encouraging.

“This gives us a better chance than we have had since the beginning of the investigation. It is obviously a difficult, time consuming, awkward one to deal with… but with the new group that is all they do, they pick just a few cases, we are pleased they chose this one.”

There have been persons of interest but no suspects and still no motive in this case.

We keep in touch with the RCMP, we keep hearing nothing. We keep asking and getting the same answers…I’m not blaming them, it is a very difficult crime, but it has been very frustrating for everyone.”

He hopes this new special projects team will be able to devote more time and energy to the case.

“It opened up a whole in our lives that stares back at us everyday.”

The body of the 53 year old was discovered near a popular trail in Pacific Spirit Park in 2009, how she died still remains a mystery.
