Although summer may be winding down, the event circuit is still buzzing with action. This weekend marks the much anticipated annual Lululemon Seawheeze Half Marathon in Vancouver. Even if you don’t plan to run, spectating and cheering is all part of the experience. In fact, the after party alone is worth it! This year the sunset festival features Capital Cities and starts at 6pm at Brockton Fields Stanley Park. Tickets are still available for the Sunset Festival HERE.
I’m also looking forward to my first ever Bard on the Beach performance of a Midsummer Night’s Dream and sharing behind the scenes interviews on the air! It’s the 25th anniversary of this Vancouver tradition, don’t miss it – shows include Cymbeline, Equivocation, The Tempest and A Midsummer Night’s Dream which run until September 20.
Another summer event tradition this weekend includes Deep Cove Daze this Sunday, August 24 from noon until 7pm. An annual festival complete with midway rides, face painters, kid’s entertainers, local artisans, a main sage full of entertainment, a Kid’s stage with a variety of events, a tea house, beer gardens, and a kid’s parade with a contest for the best decorated bike!
Tune in the :18’s and :48’s for all the event details, interviews and highlights!
I came, I reported, I ran the Lululemon SeaWheeze Half Marathon! I interviewed drag queen, muscle men, the cheer squad-ers and participants while running myself. Yes, it is true – the SeaWheeze is the most colourful, playful, luon clad, swag bursting, entertaining and rewarding half marathon we own. Every single participant I interviewed at the start line was not from Vancouver and chose this run as a destination and goal. Some of my favourite SeaWheeze surprises – can be seen in the photos above. Inspirational messages along the route, shiny – happy people motivating you – the runners breakfast and of course the after party! Don’t miss the boat, this SeaWheeze sells out quickly so stay on top of it if you are looking to run next year!
I toured the City of Vancouver ‘epic’ pool circuit today to speak with people about their thoughts on summer winding down. Everyone is happy with what we got – some don’t want it to ever end and others simply content with the way out summer worked out. I hooped over to the Bard on the Beach festival grounds at Vanier Park to speak with Artistic Director Christopher Gaze on his scoop on everything Shakespeare and the success of the festival now in it’s 25th season.
See you Labour Day weekend,
