Shinkaruk tallies two points in Canucks win over Flames

CALGARY, AB (NEWS1130) – Hunter Shinkaruk scored once and added an assist, giving him four points in two pre-season games, as the Vancouver Canucks took a 3-1 victory over the Calgary Flames.

Shinkaruk also had a goal and an assist in Vancouver’s win over San Jose at Rogers Arena on Tuesday night.

Newcomer Nick Bonino had a pair of assists in the victory. He set up Chris Higgins for the opening goal in the second period and then also played set-up man to Nicklas Jensen later in the period.

Eddie Lack started in net for Vancouver and played just shy of 30 minutes. He stopped all 20 shots he faced and has now turned aside all 36 shots he has seen over two pre-season appearances.

Sean Monahan scored the Flames’ lone goal, beating Joacim Eriksson on the powerplay late in the second period. Eriksson made 10 saves on 11 shots.

The win gives the Canucks a 2-1 record in the pre-season, as they earned a win and a loss in split squad games with the Sharks on Tuesday. The Canucks and Flames rematch on Friday night at Rogers Arena.
