Is Vancouver’s parking ticket dispute system unfair?

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Local activists want what they call a fair parking system in Vancouver.
This comes as an ex-ticket adjudicator says there is no real way to dispute seemingly unfair claims.
Arny Wise wants the system to be more human and suggests it deters people from trying to dispute tickets so he’s launched a court challenge.
Michael Vonn with the BC Civil Liberties Association says the process needs to be a fair one.
“If you’re trying to make a point, you’ve gotta have a way to make it. And if you’re point is, this isn’t a ticket that is legitimate, then you’ve to be able to have a back and forth with the other side in terms of what they’re saying,” says Vonn.
At this point it’s not really possible to have a dialogue with the officer who handed you the ticket.
Vonn says you have to wonder if the people who developed the process weren’t hoping that people would just give up by making it hard.
