Job postings for Nordstrom’s Vancouver location go up next week

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – If you’ve been thinking about applying to work at the Nordstrom store set to open in Vancouver in September of this year, you may want to get your resume ready to go.  The US company has announced when it’ll be accepting applications, and a retail analyst is expecting a deluge of responses.

When the store opened in Ottawa, the company was looking for 600 people during advanced hiring and they got 6,000 applicants, says David Ian Gray with DIG 360.

“They weren’t all that interested in prior retail work history.  They were really hiring based on pure natural friendliness, people who are outgoing and people who really wanted to please and serve.”

He expects both the hiring criteria and the level of excitement to be the same in Vancouver.

Nordstrom plans to hire 1,000 people and you can expect postings to go up May 19th.

The store will be located at Pacific Centre in Downtown Vancouver.  Most of the work will be in the clothing department, accessories and other fashion items, but there are also availabilities in building services, alterations and food services among other jobs.

On Monday Lowe’s said it would add 2,000 jobs across Canada by expanding into stores vacated by Target, while Wal-Mart last week said its takeover of Target leases would add 3,400 positions.
