CALGARY (NEWS 1130) – Funnel clouds spotted south of Calgary early this afternoon caused a tense few hours for those watching the sky in and around the city.
Environment Canada issued a severe weather warning for the area with a system capable of bringing a tornado and large hail.
The southwest portion of Calgary was in the path of the developing system until shortly after 2:00 p.m. local time when the storm moved on to a tornado watch to areas east of Calgary, including the city of Chestermere.
There are no reports of injuries from this latest system.
Environment Canada confirmed a tornado touched down north of Priddis, west of Calgary.
On Tuesday night there was also a brief tornado warning north of the city.
