DELTA (NEWS 1130) – People in Delta are being told a letter they received in the mail is not an excuse for watering their lawns.
The municipality sent out some out of date information.Right now, we are under Stage 3 water restrictions, which means no lawn sprinkling. But, people in Delta have been opening their mail over the last few days to find a letter that states we are under stage 2 restrictions and watering is allowed.
George Harvey, with the municipality, says the most up to date information is online.
“The social media that we have is very accurate. Anybody who wants updates on anything Delta, especially water, in this case, it’s on on the front page of our website.”
Even though snail mail can become outdated, by the time it arrives, Harvey says Delta will continue to send letters about water restrictions.
“We don’t see any excuse and if you’re caught watering you will get a ticket,” says Harvey. “We appreciate individuals that are complying, do not like to see their neighbours abusing or breaking the by-law.
Harvey says Delta has issued about 40 tickets for watering lawns since the restrictions were put in place.
