TransLink offers more direction for Compass Card transition

By

VANCOUVER – Funds should be loaded onto your Compass Card at least two hours before you take the bus or SkyTrain.

That’s TransLink‘s message after thousands of riders complained about money not showing up in time for their trip today and over the weekend.

These problems have not been seen when loading funds at a Compass Vending Machine, at a station, or at certain London Drugs locations.

With all monthly pass users now needing a Compass Card TransLink saw 70,000 riders transition over the last five days.

Many have complained about how long it’s taken for loaded funds to show up on their card.

TransLink’s Lloyd Bauer doesn’t know when or if that will ever change, hence the two-hour window.

“We’re also working with our contractor to look at the system in terms of what we call load time and looking at what we need to do to be able to reduce that down.”

At the end of this month, Fare Saver users will have to transition too, but you will be able to use the tickets you have left over.
